MILWAUKEE — RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was quick to praise Fox Business Tuesday night for its handling of the latest Republican primary debate.

“Tonight was a great night, I think, for our party. It was a good night for our candidates,” Priebus told reporters in the “Spin Room” immediately after the evening’s main debate concluded.

“This is really how we need these debates to be run and operated. Not pat-a-cake. Good questions tough questions, but, you know, the type of thing that allows for positive responses, allows for candidates to differentiate themselves.”

Fox Business’ Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo, as well as the Wall Street Journal’s Gerard Baker, questioned the candidates during the main event.

“There were a few elbows,” Priebus continued, “there were some jabs, but this is really where we want to see these debates going forward.”

“We have a big field, so we’re going to need these debates to help our voters understand who they support and who they don’t.”

Priebus’ praise of Fox Business comes after the last debate, hosted by CNBC, was widely panned by both critics and the candidates as a poorly-run affair.
