Charlie Sheen confirmed rumors that he is HIV-positive Tuesday morning.
After a shocking report was published in the National Enquirer Monday claiming he had been diagnosed with HIV, the actor appeared on the “Today” show and told Matt Lauer it’s true.
“I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive,” Sheen said. “I have to put a stop to this barrage of attacks.” (RELATED: Shocking New Report Claims Charlie Sheen Has HIV)
The 50-year-old actor said he was diagnosed four years ago, and has since paid “enough to bring it into the millions” to keep his secret quiet. (PHOTOS: The Women Charlie Sheen Has Dated)
“I release myself from this prison today. I have a responsibility now to better myself and help a lot of other people.”
Sheen said there is “no way” he transmitted it to anyone else and that rumors he may have given it to someone else were “harmful.” (RELATED: Denise Richards Knew Charlie Sheen Had HIV, Report Claims)
