Islamic State militants brutally crushed protests launched by civilians fed up with injustices suffered under the terror group’s rule in Islamic State-controlled territory.

In a heated moment a Syrian man gunned down an ISIS judge in Manbij, an area of Aleppo, and then proceeded to commit suicide to avoid the inevitable brutality he would suffer once caught, ARA News reports.

This Syrian man wanted revenge against the judge who ordered the beheading of several of his close family members.

The violent eruption is the latest case of rebellion against ISIS. There have been three protests in two months. In the most recent protest, dozens poured out but quickly drew gunfire from ISIS militants who killed two and injured several others. ISIS troops rounded up and arrested the remaining protesters.

Civilians want ISIS gone from their city because of draconian policies. Some of those policies include snatching away children under the justification that the group will teach them about Islam. Parents later found out their children were dead. ISIS lied and sent the children to the front lines of Aleppo to die.

In many cases, militants kidnap women claiming as a justification that the husbands of these women support the Free Syrian Army, which is a main opponent of ISIS.

“There is great unrest among civilians in the city; this is the result of major harassment and arbitrary detentions, of women in particular and men in general, and the many cases where innocent civilians have been executed,” local activist Abu Yaman al-Halabi told NOW News in Lebanon.

ISIS captured Manjib over a year-and-a-half ago after defeating government forces and continually puts civilians at risk. Recent airstrikes on Raqqa, Syria, are prompting ISIS to prevent civilians from leaving the region, even as many fighters flee. The group is also blocking humanitarian aid for war-torn regions.

“The presence of radical armed groups continued to prevent all planned deliveries to some 550,000 targeted beneficiaries in the north-eastern provinces of Deir Ezzor and Ar-Raqqa,” stated a United Nations World Food Programme report.
