Iowa State University is trailing in the Big 12 football standings this Thanksgiving season, but its faculty and staff lead the pack as the conference’s most liberal political donors.

Employees at the 10 Big 12 universities have donated $5.3 million to Democrats and $2.1 million to Republicans since 1990. Iowa State faculty and staff gave the highest proportion of their donations to Democrats, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of OpenSecrets’ federal campaign finance data. Iowa State employees donated $397,000 to Democrats in that time frame, versus $68,000 to Republicans.

But professors and staff at the University of Texas filled politicians’ pockets with more dough than employees of any other Big 12 institution, donating $3.2 million to Democrats versus $1.1 million to Republicans over the last 25 years. Austin, the Longhorns’ home, is the most liberal city in conservative-leaning Texas.

Faculty and staff at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth proved the most conservative with their political donations, giving $92,800 to Republicans and $76,800 to Democrats.

Oklahoma State University faculty and staff in Stillwater ranked the second-most conservative with their donations, giving $87,900 to Republicans versus $82,400 to Democrats.

Texas Tech University staff in Lubbock, Texas, and at Baptist-affiliated Baylor University in Waco, Texas, also gave almost equally to Republicans and Democrats.

Texas Tech employees sent $173,950 to Democrats and $173,600 to Republicans.

Baylor University faculty and staff gave $94,200 to Democrats and $94,900 to Republicans.

Here’s how faculty and staff at the other Big 12 universities have donated since 1990:
