St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was hospitalized late Tuesday night after being shot twice in the head in Miami Gardens, FL.

Bailey — who is currently serving a four game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy — was reportedly riding in a car with three family members when another car pulled beside them and opened fire.

WATCH:

Bailey is in stable condition and is slated to undergo surgery Wednesday morning, but the driver, his cousin, suffered “life-threatening injuries,” reports Fox News.

The Rams released the following statement on the incident.

We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening. We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.

Bailey is reportedly cooperating with police in their investigation.
