Customers at a Tulsa Burger King came for the Whoppers but ended up getting a crowbar vs. handgun duel Sunday.

Police say a would-be robber came at a man with a crowbar outside a Burger King in East Tulsa, but the victim pulled out a handgun and shot the alleged robber in the shoulder, WFTV News reports. The perpetrator drove himself to the hospital.

Police say the shooter will likely not be charged, because the shooting was in self defense.

The self-defense shooting continues a trend for Tulsa, which has seen several shootings in self defense this year.

Oklahoma’s laws have broad protections for those who protect themselves. State statutes expanded in 2006 and 2011 to increase residents’ liberties in defending themselves, especially for home intrusions. Oklahoma residents can fight back with deadly force if they believe a home intruder may physically attack them, even if they don’t fear for their life.

Essentially, if you break into a home in Oklahoma, there’s a good chance you’ll end up dead and the shooter will get no charges. In a wild Tulsa shooting, a store clerk killed two armed robbers who broke into his store guns blazing in January.
