Will Smith decided he wanted to be famous after one of his girlfriends did him wrong as a teenager.
During a taped interview with Benicio del Toro, the 47-year-old actor revealed why he became an actor.
“When I was 15, my girlfriend cheated on me,” Smith said. “And from that moment, in this bizarre psychological twist, I wanted to be the most famous entertainer on Earth.” (RELATED: Will Smith: ‘Racism Is Rare’)

“Because I believed that your girlfriend couldn’t cheat on you [then].”
Smith said the experience has helped him get into character, too.
