Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham Thursday that President Obama is willing to shut down the government in order to protect “the flow of Muslim refugees coming” into this country.
SESSIONS: We should not — we should stop absolutely cowering over the question of shutdown. Congress has a right to pass laws. Congress has a right to fund programs and not fund programs. And the president, if he vetoes a bill that funds the government of the United States because Congress didn’t fund one of his pet programs, it’s his fault — the government shutdown, not Congress’ [fault] …
INGRAHAM: The majority of Americans agree this refugee thing needs to stop … that any talk of a shutdown should be placed on the shoulders of Barack Obama who is such a fanatic — along with the rest of the Democrats — tell me if I’m misstating this Senator, that he is willing to shut the government down to keep the flow of Muslim refugees coming. That’s a fanatical deal.
SESSIONS: And the Republicans want that explained to the American people. The American people, I think overwhelmingly will blame the president — correctly — for refusing to deal with this crisis.
