Google Search Connects Trump To Hitler

The search engine Google is helping comparisons between Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler by suggesting that Trump’s new book is similar to Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf.”

The phenomenon can bee seen by Googling Trump’s recently released book “Crippled America: How To Make America Great Again” in Google Images. In the top left corner, photos of Hitler’s memoir “Mein Kampf” appear as a related search. It was first reported by The Pulse 2016.

The relationship is one-way, so Googling “Mein Kampf” or Hitler does not bring up Trump or his book as a related search.

It’s not clear what is responsible for the connection between the two. There could be a strong, organic correlation between searches for the two books, or the connection could be the result of a deliberate effort to game Google’s algorithms. In the past, for instance, manipulation of Google caused George W. Bush to be the top result when searching the phrase “miserable failure.”

It certainly isn’t hard to believe that Google’s algorithms could naturally pair Trump and Hitler. Comparisons between the two have been frequent, and have especially increased in the past two days, after Trump proposed cutting off Muslim immigration into the United States.
