Evangelist Franklin Graham denounced the Republican party Monday for passing a “wasteful” $1.1 trillion spending bill that funds Planned Parenthood, saying that’s one reason he has quit the party.

“Seeing and hearing Planned Parenthood talk nonchalantly about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses with utter disregard for human life is reminiscent of Joseph Mengele and the Nazi concentration camps!,” Graham said in a lengthy Facebook post, referring to a series of undercover videos released by The Center for Medical Progress.

“That should’ve been all that was needed to turn off the faucet for their funding,” he continued. “Nothing was done to trim this 2,000 page, $1.1 trillion budget. This is an example of why I have resigned from the Republican Party and declared myself Independent.” (RELATED: The 7 Most Outrageous Screwups In The Planned Parenthood Scandal)

The Republican-led House and Senate passed the massive spending deal last week, which fully funds Planned Parenthood and does not address the non-profit’s dealing in aborted baby parts. Several congressional committees launched investigations into Planned Parenthood, after the videos exposed some of the clinics’ practice of selling aborted baby parts — allegedly for profit — to researchers.

“There’s no question—taxpayers should not be paying for abortions!” Graham said in the post. “Abortion is murder in God’s eyes.”

“I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or Tea Party to do what is best for America,” Graham added in the Facebook post. “Unless more godly men and women get in this process and change this wicked system, our country is in for trouble.”

Graham is the son of Billy Graham, and heads up the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, as well as Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian humanitarian organization. He’s outspoken about politics, and drew criticism for voicing support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States.
