Republican South Carolina Senator Tim Scott went after President Barack Obama’s plan to transfer detainees out of Guantanamo Bay with his own take on the classic holiday poem, “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

The commander in chief has called for the closure of the Cuba-based prison, proposing the prisoners potentially be brought to facilities in Kansas, South Carolina or Colorado.

Scott posted the poem on Twitter Dec. 23.

“And what to my wondering eyes appear,” it reads. “But a site assessment team with locations to volunteer, With a neighborhood, a school, a church close enough for terrorists to use, They whistled and shouted and called them by name” ‘Now Charleston! Now Colorado! Now Kansas, let us choose!'”

Scott has repeatedly vocalized is disdain for the idea, calling it “grossly irresponsible” earlier this year.

“Despite what the law says and even his own AG the president searches and searches to find them a key to open up an American community and lock up Guantanamo with glee,” his version reads.

The Pentagon is slated to transfer 17 detainees within the first few weeks of the new year, Defense One reports.

Despite pushback from Congress, the White House has not backed down, saying it plans to release a closure plan to Congress before the president leave office.
