Susan Sarandon is now likening Syrian refugees to Jesus.

The actress spent the past week on the Greek island of Lesbos with dozens of Syrian refugees, and in a new op-ed for the Huffington Post, Sarandon compared a Syrian mother and child to Mary and Jesus.

Sarandon said she met a 16-year-old girl who had a baby that was five days old while she was waiting in line to register.

“I smile and approach her, but without a translator our conversation is basic and friendly,” Sarandon said. “She takes the bundle next to her and opens it up to me. Inside is a perfect, rosy newborn.” (RELATED: Samuel L. Jackson: ‘I’m Going To Vote For Hillary So Republicans Can’t Win’)

“Wasn’t Mary just a kid too when she and Joseph took to the road?” Sarandon added.

“So far, there is no manger for this Syrian baby — no room at the inn.”

“I run to inform the clinic. Later, they tell me they tried to bring her inside but she wouldn’t leave her spot, afraid to lose her place in line.” (RELATED: The Reason These Two Celebs Just Donated $1 Million To Syrian Refugees)
