It’s no surprise to my longtime reader(s) that I’m not a fan of Donald Trump. He’s a jerk and a blowhard and a bully. But he’s obviously not a dumb guy. He keeps saying stuff that would end anybody else’s campaign, yet his polls just keep going up. Clearly, he’s not playing the same game as anybody else in either party. I’m still not ready to embrace the idea of Trump as the Republican candidate for president, but I’m not going to deny that it’s possible. It could happen. And if it does, we all need to understand how he did it. We need to accept the possibility that we’re the dumb ones, not Trump. We need to come to grips with the idea that he’s playing three-dimensional chess while the rest of us are playing checkers. With mittens on. In the dark.
