The Chinese Communist Party has released a year-end rap video which guest stars President Xi Jinping. It’s just as bizarre as it sounds.

The three-minute video was released Monday on China’s state-run Chinese Central Television, and celebrates the second anniversary of the Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reforms, a party committee created by Xi to combat corruption in the Chinese government. The rap lauds Xi, who took power in 2012, as a reformer who has purged corruption and achieved great things for China.

“They insist on fighting corruption/They specialise [sic] in hitting tigers,” the rap goes, according to a translation by the South China Morning Post. “Rule the party strictly/Govern the country by law/[The whole country] is overwhelmed with joy.”

Occasionally, Xi himself makes a guest appearance, with the text of his speeches used as vocals for the rap.

“An arrow will never return once it’s shot by a bow,” he says at one point. Another time, he boldly declares “Only the daring will prevail at key stages of reform.”

Several specific achievements of Xi and the reform group are praised in the song, such as the yuan becoming an International Monetary Fund reserve currency and the creation of the “One Belt, One Road” infrastructure project. Of course, less flattering developments, such as last August’s massive explosion in Tianjin, don’t make an appearance.

Needless to say, the rap flows more smoothly in Chinese than in English.

“Flies, tigers, big foxes, CATCH CATCH CATCH CATCH!” it declares near the end. “To rule the party strictly we must harden our bodies, the judicial reform must be victorious.”

Producing songs to glorify the Chinese government is nothing new in the People’s Republic. Last February, the Cyberspace Administration of China, which handles Internet censorship in the country, produced a rousing anthem to promote its vision of a state-controlled Internet.

A couple months ago, the government even released an English-language song to explain its 13th Five Year Plan.
