Donald Trump and Ben Carson campaign books were quietly removed from the humor shelves of a Miami Barnes and Noble shortly after The Daily Caller exclusively reported a Republican Hill aide’s tweeted photo of the curious juxtaposition.

The pic showed Trump’s book, “Crippled America: How To Make America Great Again” and, alongside Carson’s treatise, “A More Perfect Union: What We The People Can Do To Reclaim Our Constitution Liberties.”

But the culprit may not have been a stalking horse for political correctness, as Carson implied when asked about the incident on “Fox and Friends.”  Just somebody who, like the man being hunted for the heinous crime of leaving bacon at a Las Vegas mosque, is clearly blessed with an impish sense of humor.

An unnamed Barnes and Noble customer service representative for the store in South Miami at the Shops at Sunset Place, insisted to CBSNews.com, that the shelving was “obviously a prank” by a customer and no employees were involved.

The return of the books to their proper place on Thursday does not appear to have been reported anywhere else.

Republican Senate Conference digital director Robbie Myers, who tweeted the photo and, snarked, “clearly no liberal bias,” could not be reached for comment.
