In a letter addressed to Republican 2016 presidential hopefuls Tuesday, Heritage Action for America, the lobbying wing of the Heritage Foundation, called on the potential nominees to commit to a complete repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) if elected.

“A strong majority of Americans believe Congress should use the same process to repeal Obamacare that was used to pass the law,” Michael Needham, the organization’s CEO, wrote. “They are right. America cannot afford another four more years of Obamacare.”

The House is poised to pass a measure Wednesday designed to dismantle key components of the President Barack Obama’s landmark legislation, which would eliminate the individual and employer mandates, the Cadillac tax and medical device tax in addition to defunding Planned Parenthood for a year.

While the administration has reiterated Obama will veto the legislation if passed, it will be the first time Republicans have successfully sent a bill repealing the ACA to the president’s desk.

According to the advocacy organization, the legislation will “provide momentum” to fully repeal the bill once a Democrat no longer holds the White House.

“An ironclad commitment to repeal the entire law will keep Obamacare and its disastrous side effects at the forefront of the campaign,” he wrote.

Needham said a Republican president should utilize every executive power possible to prevent the implementation of Obamacare regulations and ensure the vice president presides over reconciliation process to ensure the law is completely overturned.
