The Romney political dynasty could expand in 2020.

Josh Romney, the son of 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, said he wouldn’t mind following in his father’s footsteps and run for public office.

The Utah resident — who has been assisting current Utah Republican Gov. Gary Herbert with his j2016 re-election efforts — isn’t ruling out running for Herbert’s position when the governor’s term ends.

“Running for governor in 2020 is definitely something I am strongly considering,” Romney told Desert News. In the Monday report, he added,”What others do will not affect my decision-making process.”

Romney passed on a primary challenge in 2015 against Utah conservative Sen. Mike Lee, who is up for re-election this year for his seat in the upper chamber.

Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz, who had an unsuccessful bid for speaker of the House in October, also said he is considering running for the position when Herbert leaves office.

“I’m not going to be here forever. I would take a serious, serious look at running for governor,” Chaffetz told Desert News in a separate interview earlier this week. “I want to go as hard and fast as I can in the House and then go home.”

Romney’s father served as Massachusetts governor from 2003 to 2007 and his grandfather, George Romney, was the governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969.
