Former President Bill Clinton on Thursday avoided questions from a reporter about the public resurfacing of Juanita Broaddrick, a woman who in 1999 accused Clinton of raping her in the seventies.
Clinton was campaigning for his wife, Hillary Clinton, in Cedar Rapids.
“What’s your reaction to Juanita Broaddrick’s reemergence?” Daily Caller reporter Kerry Picket asked the former president several times, as Clinton was ushered out of the event.
Another reporter asked what he thought about Donald Trump making an issue of his “past transgressions” and if he’s worried it could hurt his wife’s campaign.
“I don’t have any response. If he wins the Republican nomination, we’ll have plenty of time to talk…I have no interest in getting involved in their politics or doing anything except trying to help Hillary,” Clinton said.
Speaking of Trump, Clinton said: “He says a lot of things. I have no response.”
On Wednesday, Broaddrick appeared on Twitter and wrote: “I was 35 years old when Bill Clinton, Ark. Attorney General raped me and Hillary tried to silence me. I am now 73….it never goes away.”

In 1999, Clinton’s personal attorney denied Broaddrick’s accusation on behalf of Clinton: “Any allegation that the president assaulted Mrs. Broaddrick more than 20 years ago is absolutely false. Beyond that, we’re not going to comment.”
