A gunman ambushed a police officer as he sat in his marked cruiser at an intersection, striking him three times in the arm during a barrage of bullets and fleeing before being apprehended, officials said Friday. The crime was committed with a stolen police firearm, police said.
Police Commissioner Richard Ross said the suspect fired at least 13 shots late Thursday as he walked toward Officer Jessie Hartnett and eventually got up next to the car and reached through the driver’s-side window…
Police announced Friday afternoon that the gunman admitted to committing the act in the name of Islam.
No word yet on a possible motive.

Finnish police reported on Thursday an unusually high level of sexual harassment in Helsinki on New Year’s Eve and said they had been tipped off about plans by groups of asylum seekers to sexually harass women…
Three sexual assaults allegedly took place at Helsinki’s central railway station on New Year’s Eve, where around 1,000 mostly Iraqi asylum seekers had converged…
“The suspects were asylum seekers. The three were caught and taken into custody on the spot,” Ilkka Koskimaki told reporters.
Why did these men do it? Why are we seeing this sort of unprecedented mass sexual assault in Helsinki, and Cologne, and other European cities?
We may never know.
