Various Italian media outlets, citing an autopsy by authorities, are reporting American artist and socialite Ashley Olsen (no relation to the Olsen twins) died from being strangled to death during a consensual sex game. Police are actively looking for the man involved in the game on suspicion of murder, according to La Repubblica Firenze.

According to the reports, Olsen was strangled with some sort of a cord and definitively not with the killer’s bare hands. Olsen’s nude body was found by her boyfriend in her apartment Saturday with “bruises and scratches on her neck,” according to The Telegraph.

Olsen’s boyfriend found her after getting a key to her apartment from her landlord. Federico Fiorentini, an artist like Olsen, reportedly went to her apartment because he was worried that Olsen was not picking up his calls.

Upon finding her, Fiorentini claims to have tried giving Olsen mouth to mouth resuscitation. Italian authorities questioned Fiorentini but released him and is no longer deemed a suspect, according to La Repubblica Firenze.

Olsen was last seen alive at a night club known for cocaine use and a friend of hers told the Daily Mail Online that Olsen used the drug. Authorities will not comment about the possibility of drugs including cocaine being in Olsen’s apartment.

Another matter authorities are considering is that Olsen’s phone was not at the scene, NBC reports. Italian authorities suspect that Olsen’s murderer was known to her and stole her phone, which may have had WhatsApp messages between the two of them, according to La Stampa.

Olsen, 35, was a native of Summer Haven, Fla., according to CNN. She moved to Florence, Italy, three years ago to be closer to her father, who is an art professor in the city.

Due to the autopsy confirming that she had consensual sex on the evening of her murder, the case is somewhat reminiscent of the death of Meredith Kercher and the subsequent trials of Amanda Knox. Italian authorities have not found anything to indicate that someone broke into Olsen’s apartment according to The Telegraph.
