In a newly released video NRA’s Wayne LaPierre challenges President Obama to a debate on gun control.

“There’s a reason why the NRA’s not here. They’re just down the street,” Obama declared to Anderson Cooper at the recent “town hall” on guns in America. When Cooper asked Obama if he would meet with the NRA Obama responded, “Anderson, I’ve said this repeatedly, I’m happy to meet with them, happy to talk to them, but the conversation has to be based on facts and truth.”

The reason the National Rifle Association did not have a representative at the event is because the Obama team would only allow the NRA one prescreened question.

In the video LaPierre does have some facts that might be hard for someone who is committed to “common sense gun reform” might not find appealing.

“Through a deliberate lack of prosecution President Obama has made America a sanctuary nation for felons, criminal gangbangers, drug dealers, repeat offenders an illegal aliens,” a resolved LaPierre states. “Under the existing federal gun laws he could take every felon with a gun, drug dealer with a gun and criminal gangbanger with a gun off the streets tomorrow and lock them up for five years or more.”

Let’s hope Obama takes the challenge. It would be interesting to listen to him explain why criminals get a pass and law abiding citizens need more hurdles to exercise a right set in place in 1791.
