Thousands of people have signed a petition demanding actress Emma Watson spend a week in a refugee camp without body guards to prove migrants are harmless.
“Emma Watson should spend a week’s holiday in a Calais migrant camp, without guards of course, to show how safe, and how pro feminism these migrants are,” the Change.org petition reads. More than 15,000 people have signed the petition since it was started by Oscar Izard in mid-January.
Watson is a vocal feminist and the current “Goodwill Women’s Ambassador” for the United Nations. She tweeted “#RefugeesWelcome” in September, taking a position against people worried about the massive influx of migrants to Europe and the spillover into the United States. Izard set a goal of 25,000 signatures.
“I reject wholeheartedly the notion that North African and Middle Eastern migrants are unsafe, and rapists,” Izard wrote in the petition, stating Watson should stay in a camp to “show how safe current migration is to Europe, particularly regarding the cause of feminism.”
Alleged sexual assaults, rape and harassment continue to be reported in Europe. More than 500 people filed criminal complaints over alleged sexual assaults, rapes and robberies committed by migrants in Cologne, Germany, on New Year’s Eve.
