John Kasich told voters at a New Hampshire town hall Sunday that after the endorsements of the Boston Globe, several New Hampshire newspapers, and New York Times, he “thought about all of this and I cried.”

Kasich has been embracing the NY Times endorsement despite the fact that many in the GOP criticize the paper for it’s leftist views. Chris Christie’s campaign sent out an email titled, “‘The New York Times’ Endorsement Further Proves That John Kasich Is A Liberal’s Idea Of What A Good Republican Should Look Like.”

In his speech, the Ohio governor focused on a part in the editorial that read, “And Mr. Kasich is no moderate. As governor, he’s gone after public-sector unions, fought to limit abortion rights and opposed same-sex marriage,” CBS reports(RELATED: New York Times Endorses Hillary, Kasich)

“Yesterday, I got endorsed by The New York Times,” he said at the town hall. “A couple days ago, I was in my room, and I thought about all of this and I cried.”

“It’s amazing to come from where I came from and have these wonderful things said about me,” said Kasich.

He told reporters it was “a lovely editorial.”
