Notre Dame-West Haven hockey player Doug Caliendo scored a game-winning goal only hours after his father died from cancer.

Caliendo’s father Lou died early Wednesday morning from stomach cancer, but that didn’t stop his son from suiting up for the game, according to WTNH news. (RELATED: NHL Player’s Biggest Score Might Be His Girlfriend [PHOTOS])

Notre Dame was in overtime with Northwest Catholic when Caliendo fired the game-winning goal. The Notre Dame defenseman pointed up at the sky immediately after winning the game.
