The Michigan state attorney general’s office told reporters Tuesday that government officials could potentially face involuntary manslaughter charges for their roles in the Flint water crisis.
“It’s not far-fetched,” noted special counsel Todd Flood. “Anything involuntary manslaughter or death that may have happened to some young person or old person because of this poisoning, to misconduct in office. We take this very seriously.”
Flood claimed that while the investigation could unearth “honest mistakes” as the root cause of the contaminated water, the evidence of any “breach of duty” or “gross negligence” would result in criminal charges, reports The Washington Post.
