Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lost even the women to Sen. Bernie Sanders by a wide margin in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night, in a blow to her campaign as potentially the first female president.

More than half of women voting in the Democratic presidential primary chose Sanders over Clinton, according to early reports breaking down his landslide victory. ABC News reports Sanders won women 53 percent to 46 percent over Clinton, and NBC News reports Sanders won 55 percent compared to Clinton’s 44 percent.

While stumping for Clinton over the weekend, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright angered some women when she repeated her famous slogan: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.” (RELATED: Madeleine Albright Tells Women There’s ‘A Special Place In Hell’ For Them If They Don’t Support Hillary)

A stunning 69 percent of women under the age of 45 voted for Sanders over Clinton Tuesday, including a whopping 82 percent of those under 30. Clinton did manage to win 56 percent of the vote from women ages 45 and older, revealing a sharp generational divide among the voters.

While Clinton’s loss to Sanders in New Hampshire is not surprising, her lack of support from women in a blue state is a serious blow that “undermines the foundation of Hillary Clinton’s campaign,” according to the Huffington Post.

Sanders took 60 percent of the primary vote overall, compared to Clinton’s 38 percent.
