DEVELOPING: Two Teenagers Shot And Killed At Arizona High School

Glendale police confirmed two teenage girls were shot and killed at the local Independence High School Friday morning.

Police report the incident is not an active shooter situation and is “isolated.” The names of the students have not been provided, however, police found two deceased 15-year-old girls on the scene, each with a single gunshot wound. A gun was found beside the bodies.

It is uncertain whether or not the teenagers are students at the school, however, the two girls were confirmed to be in the tenth grade. 

According to police, officers received the call around 8 a.m. local time. A police spokeswoman claimed officers responded within two minutes.

The spokeswoman also noted the police are not currently searching for a suspect, but they have not provided any details as to the motive or reason behind the shooting.

The mayor of Glendale made a statement offering his condolences to the familys of the students of the high school and the school has said it will notify parents by email when the students are released from the lock-down.

The Glendale Union High School District posted a statement to its Facebook page this morning about the shooting.
