Republican presidential candidate Ohio Gov. John Kasich may skip most of primary day in South Carolina.

The Boston Globe reported Wednesday Kasich will not be in South Carolina when the primary results are being counted Saturday. The article says Kasich will “spend most of the day in Massachusetts” attending a rally and then a fundraiser.

The Daily Caller News Foundation contacted the Kasich campaign to ask if it had given up on the state. The campaign dismissed the notion and said it had not yet decided where it’ll be on primary night.

“We campaigned in South Carolina on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Tuesday, today, tomorrow and Friday,” Kasich campaign spokesman Chris Schrimpf told TheDCNF. “We are competing hard in SC but the race doesn’t end in South Carolina. After South Carolina votes the race moves on to other states including Mass., where we will hit the ground running like we are Michigan and other states. We have not yet decided where we will be Saturday night.”

Schrimpf told TheDCNF the campaign also cancelled days in Michigan and Virginia to spend more time in South Carolina.

The Real Clear Politics polling average has Kasich in a near tie for fourth place with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Donald Trump is ahead by a wide margin at 34.3 percent, followed by Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio essentially tied for second at just under 17 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson trails in sixth with 6 percent of the vote.
