Neither [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] nor [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore] are Latino enough for Comedy Central’s “Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.”

During Monday’s broadcast, Wilmore and a panel of guests wondered why “Cruz and Rubio don’t really embrace their Hispanic heritage,” Mediaite reports.

Jordan Carlos joked that he didn’t even know they were Hispanic, while Grave Parra explained her concern over Cruz and Rubio’s understated ethnic backgrounds.

“They use it when it’s convenient and to me, it’s really upsetting,” noted Parra. “Rubio speaks perfect Spanish, and he never chooses to pull it out.”

“I think race is important to talk about when talking about this because it feels like, in an attempt to get rich, white voters… Rubio and Cruz have actually alienated Latinos to the point where Latinos don’t trust them. We don’t even necessarily consider them Latino because they haven’t embraced their heritage.”
