A young woman was jumped and tasered in Washington, D.C., by a group of hooded men and women who stole her money and possessions, including a pair of pink shoes.

The group of attackers, one of which wore a mask, approached the 17 year old female as she was leaving the Potomac Avenue Metro station Wednesday around 7:15 p.m. A women in the group used a taser on the women to incapacitate her while the others robbed her, reports NBC Washington.

“It was like one of those Tasers that keep going if you hold the button, so they just kept holding the button,” the victim told NBC Washington. “They didn’t let it go.”

But the group did not just stop at tasering her and taking her money. The female attacker reportedly stole the victim’s pink shoes because they matched the pink coat she was wearing during the assault.

“It was some young person that had no training,” the victims grandfather told NBC Washington. “Their parents don’t care what they do. I felt bad because there’s nothing I can do. I can’t run down there and beat up on everybody.”

The victim reportedly acts as a caretaker for her grandmother. After the attackers left her she hid in an alley and called authorities, who found her sopping wet from the brutal thunderstorms that hit the city Wednesday night.

The incident follows a recent string of violent crimes that have rocked the city. Two Marines were brutally assaulted and robbed February 12 in separate instances. Chris Marquez was whipped in the head with a pistol, which knocked him unconscious as a group of black teens stole his possessions and kicked him as he lay on the ground. Michael Schroeder, a Marine who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, was attacked and left unconscious with a fractured skull, lying between two parked cars in a neighborhood around Glover Park. When his family found him at a local hospital he reportedly had a concussion, staples in his head, a high fever and was convulsing, reports WUSA9.

“It’s an angel whoever found him and I’m very, very grateful,” Deidre Schroeder, the victims mother, told WUSA9. “Michael could’ve died that night.”

Police arrested a 16 year old gunman Tuesday and 19 year old accomplice on the D.C. metro after the juvenile shot another man in an attempted robbery on a moving train approaching the Anacostia Metro station. Police say the shooter will be tried as an adult. (RELATED: 16-Year-Old Shoots Man On Moving Metro Train In DC)

Authorities in Washington D.C. acknowledge the recent string of high profile attacks and are responding to increasingly vocal residents over concerns about safety in the city. Metro Transit Police Chief Ronald Pavlik announced new safety measures Thursday intended to boost the police presence on District public transport and increase patrols in certain areas based upon crime trends.
