Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison has a good reason to be hard on his kids.

Harrison took part in the parenting panel during Steve Harvey’s Wednesday broadcast, and the 14-year NFL vet explained why sometimes it’s necessary to put hands on a child. (RELATED: Pittsburgh’s James Harrison BLASTS Kids’ Participation Trophies)

“I can’t sit here and tell a three year old that you can’t do this and that,” stated Harrison. “But if I tell him not to do something and spank him for doing it, he’s going to remember.”

Harrison also clarified that he doesn’t “spank his kids out of anger. [He] spanks his kids out of correctness… Like my parents told me, delayed obedience is disobedience.”

Harvey appeared to echo Harrison later in the interview.

He noted that “privileged kids, man… if you don’t teach them early, they grow up to be privileged buttholes,” a point which Harrison emphatically agreed with, reports TMZ.
