“This is the year we make a true and honest and real difference in our country,” NRA’s Wayne LaPierre told a packed house yesterday at the 2016 Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland.

“The thought of President Obama of replacing Justice Scalia is harrowing,” LaPierre warned the crowd. “But I’ll tell you this, the thought of the next president putting perhaps two or more justices on the bench should scare the hell out of all of us.”

Then LaPierre cut to a video of Hillary Clinton saying she does “have a litmus test, I have a bunch of litmus tests” because “the next president could get as many as three appointments.” Which, to Clinton’s reasoning, is why republicans need to be stopped from getting to the White House.

LaPierre points out the 20+ years of hypocrisy of democrats on, “our broken mental health system,” and “the records of those adjudicated mentally incompetent and dangerous should be included in a background check.” He even pulled a 20 year old video clip of a debate with Chuck Schumer agreeing with LaPierre that reform was needed then noted Schumer went back to his office, “and did nothing.” And that today “Schumer and Obama and Hillary Clinton have still done nothing” to ensure that mental health records are included in a background check.

“President Clinton attacked lawful gun owners he claimed the NRA was to blame for crime,” LaPierre points out that Clinton also let federal prosecution of gun crime fall to, “near historic lows.” Noting that Clinton, “would tolerate a certain level of violence to further his political agenda.” Then LaPierre plays an epic video clip where a hostile Tim Russert goes after the NRA Executive VP for claiming that the lack of gun law enforcement is for political purposes.

“The homicide rate in Chicago has risen 100%, – 100%, does that sound like a number anyone could be proud of?” LaPierre forcefully asserts about the 2016 shooting spree in Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago. Then he calls out President Obama with a memorable line, “Mr. President, you own Chicago, and that failure is on you!” LaPierre then points out that the White House has failed to enforce federal gun laws, especially in Chicago, and yet they continue to pursue law abiding gun owners.

“And then there is Hillary Rodham Clinton,” as LaPierre moves to the topic of the current election. “She hates the Second Amendment, she hates us, and she is coming after every single bit of our freedom.” Then a video clip of Clinton shrieking, “I will stand up to the gun lobby, we will fight to get common sense gun safety measures” plays in the background.

Unphased by Clinton’s threats to go after “the gun lobby” LaPierre states, “if you want to turn this election into a bare-knuckle brawl for the survival of our constitutional freedoms – Bring. It. On.”

In closing Wayne says, “Let us vow on this day, we will elect our next president, we will stand and fight with all we’ve got. We will save our country and take our freedom back!”

The entire speech lasts 29 minutes. It is a solidly constructed speech that deftly illustrates 24 years of gun control hypocrisy.
