Donald Trump reneged Friday on a statement he made during Fox’s GOP debate on Thursday.

Trump originally stated that if he were commander in chief, the military would follow all of his orders, both legal and illegal, but later clarified to the Wall Street Journal that he understands “the United States is bound by laws and treaties.” (RELATED: Trump Says The Military Won’t Disobey His Orders)

Despite advocating for killing the families of known terrorists Thursday night, his statement explained he “will not order a military officer to disobey the law.”

“It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans, and I will meet those responsibilities.”
