The largest federation of unions in the country denounced Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder as unintelligent Monday for dodging Flint water crisis questions from children.

Snyder and other Michigan lawmakers have been accused of having roles in the Flint water crisis. Local families traveled to Washington, D.C. ahead of Snyder who was called by Congress to testify about the situation March 17. The AFL-CIO declared him its loser of the week Monday for reportedly dodging questions from Flint children outside of the hearing room.

“Is Rick Snyder Smarter Than a 10-Year-Old? Apparently Not,” the AFL-CIO asked on its blog. “Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) who, while in Washington, D.C., dodged questions about the Flint water crisis as he was publicly being taken to task by Flint, Michigan, residents of all ages.”

The corrosive nature of local drinking water caused lead from pipes and pathogens to get into the Flint city water supply, prompting a 2015 crisis. Snyder took partial blame for the situation but noted there was plenty blame to share among federal lawmakers.

Lawmakers, however, scorned him for his role and for avoiding total responsibility. Flint families waited outside the hearing room for their chance to ask Snyder about his involvement, The Huffington Post reported. When the hearing was over, he reportedly dodged questions from the families.

The AFL-CIO attack comes as part of a weekly blog installment. Every Monday the union declares its winners and losers of the week.

Snyder did not respond to a request for comment by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
