The average Cuban would have to work more than 23 years to afford the outfits first lady Michelle Obama wore on the Obamas’ Cuba trip this week.
Two floral dresses she wore during her visit together cost $6,680, more than 23 times the average annual salary in Cuba, reported The Washington Free Beacon. The average employee’s wages total about $24 a month, adding up to just $288 each year, according to data from 2014.
Michelle wore one of the dresses when she and President Barack Obama landed in Cuba Sunday — a Carolina Herrera dress selling for $2,190 at Bergdorf Goodman. This dress costs nearly eight times the average Cuban’s annual salary.
