A satirical* petition wants HBO to replace “Last Week Tonight” host John Oliver with a woman.
The petition argues that while Oliver has done a good job of advancing the progressive agenda, “a man should not be allowed to hold a position that can influence so many people.”
“2015 was a good year for white male late night hosts to talk about how we need to be more progressive,” Lain Coulbert, who started the petition, wrote at Change.org. “But how about the hosts themselves?”
“It’s time to replace late night talk show hosts with women, because COME ON PEOPLE IT’S 2016!”
