The chairmen of top committees in the House and Senate want answers to the 316 security incidents on HealthCare.gov discovered by the Government Accountability Office between October 2013 and March 2015.

In a letter sent to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Burwell and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt Wednesday, lawmakers — including Senate Finance Committee Chairman [crscore]Orrin Hatch[/crscore], House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman [crscore]Fred Upton[/crscore], House Ways and Means Committee Chairman [crscore]Kevin Brady[/crscore] and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley among others — slammed the agencies for failing to inform them on the gravity of the incidents following their previous requests and a briefing on the issue in February of 2015.

The lawmakers expressed their concern since they were told the website adhered with the Privacy Act and any issues recommended by the GAO were resolved.

The report, also released Wednesday, found HHS did not have complete records of how many people were impacted or whether they were notified that sensitive information could have been exposed.

The congressman requested a full list of security incidents related to the website.

“Please also send the HHS Breach Response Team’s charter and Standard Operating Procedures, its annual reports since 2013, the CMS breach response plan, and the after-action reports for each security incident,” they wrote. “If HHS did not inform affected individuals, we urge you to change that policy immediately.”

The chairmen requested the agencies respond by April 6.
