Democratic Massachusetts Rep. [crscore]Seth Moulton[/crscore] Wednesday warned that Donald Trump’s political rise may mirror Adolf Hitler’s ascension to power in 1930s Germany.

“People should read the history of how Germany elected Hitler,” Moulton said in a Boston Globe interview. He added, “read that history and just try and just to understand the analogies and I think that’s important at this time. I’m not saying that Donald Trump is necessarily Hitler, I’m not saying that.”

“But you oughta understand how an unbelievably educated advanced society can elect a demagogue and how bad it can get as a result,” Moulton told the Globe.

When asked more directly if he thinks Trump would govern like Hitler, Moulton said, “I don’t know him. I don’t know if he would. But he certainly has talked about carpet bombing the Middle East.”

Moulton criticized this approach to defeating terrorism, saying it only creates more jihadists. The Massachusetts congressman said, “his ideas are not only radical, ridiculous, and immoral. They are also really stupid.”

Moulton joins the current president of Mexico, The Huffington Post, Glenn Beck, and a super PAC with longtime Republican ties, who have all drawn parallels between Trump and Hitler.
