Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] has called on Donald Trump to debate him one-on-one Tuesday night on CNN, but he believes Trump may be too “scared to debate.”

In an interview with CNN on Monday, Cruz said, “Look, tomorrow CNN has two town halls back to back. An hour with me, an hour with Donald Trump in the exact same location. We should make it a debate. Let’s make it a two-hour debate. CNN has already scheduled it. You’ve got a venue. You’ve got a location. You’ve got the TV cameras. The only thing missing is Donald Trump because he’s scared to debate.”

When Trump’s campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson was asked about Cruz’s desire to debate on “Erin Burnett OutFront” Monday night, she said that Trump would “absolutely not” consider it. Adding, “Senator Cruz does not dictate Mr. Trump’s schedule and he’s going to proceed accordingly.”

CNN has a town hall event with Trump, Cruz and John Kasich on Tuesday, which will feature just one candidate on the stage at their respective time.
