Donald Trump told ABC News’ Jon Karl Sunday that the National Enquirer has “a very good record of being right.”

Discussing “the kind of rumor-mongering” personified by the Enquirer’s story claiming Ted Cruz is having affairs with five different women, Karl asked the Republican front-runner, “should this kind of thing be off-limits?”

“I don’t care, I mean really, I don’t care,” Trump responded. “The National Enquirer did a story, it was their story, it wasn’t my story, it was about Ted Cruz. I have no idea whether it was right or not. They actually have a very good record of being right. But I have absolutely no idea. Frankly, I said, I hope it’s not right.” (RELATED: Trump, National Enquirer CEO ‘Have Been Friends For Years’)

Over the weekend, Cruz called the Enquirer’s allegations “completely false” and added that “Trump’s consistently disgraceful behavior is beneath the office we are seeking and we are not going to follow.” (RELATED: Cruz Accuses Trump Of Planting ‘Sleaze’ In National Enquirer)
