Seif El Din Mustafa held passengers and cabin crew of an EgyptAir flight from Alexandria to Cairo hostage for five hours Tuesday as he threatened to blow himself up.

While Mustafa was negotiating with authorities, a  passenger allegedly pulled him aside for a selfie. The hijacker proudly shows off his bomb vest while the passenger smiles for the image.

Mustafa’s bomb vest turned out to be fake and he was arrested at the airport in Cyprus.

Mustafa demanded the pilots to reroute the flight and land in Cyprus, where he wanted to see his wife.

Cyprus president Nicos Anastasiades said Mustafa had personal motives, and that the incident wasn’t terrorism-related. He handed over a letter for his wife to authorities when he was arrested at the airport.

“Always there is a woman,” Anastasiades said.
