In a taped town hall with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Donald Trump said there needs to be some form of punishment for women who get abortions.

Matthews asked Trump, “Should a woman be punished for having an abortion? This is not something you can dodge.”
“I would say that it is a very serious problem, and it’s a problem we have to decide on,” Trump responded. “I am pro-life. … You have to ban it. ”
Matthews pressed further: “Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no, as a principle?”
“The answer is that there has to be some form of punishment,” Trump replied.
“For the woman?” Matthews followed up.
“Yeah, there has to be some form. Let me just tell you–” Trump said.
“Ten cents, 10 years — what?” Matthews asked.
“I don’t know,” Trump answered. “That, I don’t know.”
