Hassan Hanafi Haji was killed by a firing squad in Mogadishu after he joined the Islamic extremist group al-Shabab and killed several journalists who did not report favorably about Islamic extremist rebels.
He forced media outlets to “practice self-censorship for security reasons,” the New York Post reports.
Death by firing squad is the only form of execution in the country.
