Heidi Cruz is silent no more.

Talking to Fox News’ Megyn Kelly Tuesday night, the wife of Texas Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] spoke out for the first time about the National Enquirer story alleging her husband engaged in affairs with five different women. In the interview, Mrs. Cruz called the report “garbage” and accused Donald Trump of planting the story.

“It’s garbage. It’s just garbage,” she said on “The Kelly File.” “This is another example of Donald Trump engaging in the politics of personal destruction, using his henchmen to go out and try to destroy others when he is losing. And I think these silly barbs and made up stories did not come out earlier in the campaign because he felt he was doing ok.”

Though Kelly noted that Trump has denied he had anything to do with the National Enquirer report, Mrs. Cruz didn’t seem to buy it.

“Well, I have no doubt these things are made up in certain place for a certain reason,” she said.

While Trump disclaims any involvement with the story, he is known to be a longtime friend of National Enquirer publisher David Pecker. The National Enquirer has even endorsed Trump’s presidential candidacy.

The Enquirer story also quoted Roger Stone, the famed political dirty trickster and longtime political confidant of Trump. Stone has also disclaimed any role in spreading the affair allegations. While Stone no longer has any official role in Trump’s presidential campaign, he says he continues to regularly talk to the billionaire Republican front-runner.

After the report was published at the end of March, Trump campaign social media director Dan Scavino helped spread the allegations on Twitter.
