An irritated Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus responded to Donald Trump’s recent complaints that the nominating process is rigged against him by saying: “Give us all a break.”

In a tweet on Tuesday night, Priebus wrote: “Nomination process known for a year + beyond. It’s the responsibility of the campaigns to understand it. Complaints now? Give us all a break.”

Priebus also tweeted: “The rules were set last year. Nothing mysterious –nothing new. The rules have not changed. The rules are the same. Nothing different.”

The tweets came after Trump, in an interview with The Hill on Tuesday, accused Priebus and the RNC of being complicit in the “sham” nominating process. Though Trump has won the most popular votes so far, he is worried that he could be denied the nomination by the delegates at the Republican National Convention under the party’s delegate allocation system.

“It’s a disgrace for the party,” Trump said. “And Reince Priebus should be ashamed of himself. He should be ashamed of himself because he knows what’s going on.”

About two weeks ago, Trump visited Priebus at the RNC’s national headquarters, later calling it “a very nice meeting” and saying he looks “forward to bringing the Party together — and it will happen!”
