Donald Trump said that transgender people like Caitlyn Jenner can use any bathroom facility that they would like in Trump Tower.

During NBC’s “Today” show town hall on Thursday, Trump came out against the North Carolina bathroom law that required people to use the biologically correct bathroom, noting that the state has faced a lot of “strife” and “economic punishment” as a result of the law. Reading a question from Twitter, co-host Willie Geist asked Trump to “speak about North Carolina bathroom law.” (RELATED: Malaysia Jails Gays But PayPal Still Opened An Office There)

Trump replied, “Oh, I had a feeling that question was going to come up, I will tell you. Well look, North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they’re paying a big price. And there’s a lot of problems.” (RELATED: PayPal Kills Plan To Add 400 Jobs In NC After Gov. Overturns LGBT Rights Bill)

“One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying leave it the way it is right now,” he continued. “There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, going through with all the business that’s leaving, and all of the strife and that’s on both sides, you leave it the way it is. There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble.”

Fellow co-host Matt Lauer followed up, “Do you have any transgender people working in your organization?”

“I don’t know. I really don’t know. I probably do,” Trump said.

Lauer then asked, “So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?”

“That is correct,” Trump said. “You know, there’s a big move to create new bathrooms. The problem with that is for transgender, that would be a, first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is.”
