Ben Smith is going home.
And by “home” I mean he’s returning to the newsroom of the Washington Examiner, that homey place where he worked as a social media engagement editor before leaving to work for a Carly Fiorina Super PAC. Fiorina lost the race early on, leaving Smith out of a job.
His new-old job will largely be similar to what he did previously for the Examiner. Except this time around he’ll work a graveyard shift of sorts — 6p.m. to midnight and weekend days.
“I’m excited to get back into things,” Smith, not to be confused with that other Ben Smith who edits BuzzFeed, told The Mirror.
The news of Smith’s family reunion came on Twitter today with some cryptic murmurings.
On Facebook, Smith announced the news and included a heartfelt note about what all this means to him.
Smith began his journalism journey as an intern at The Daily Caller, so I’d like to think we played some tiny part in this grand homecoming.
