Being a successful surrogate for a presidential candidate means knowing the resume of the individual you are campaigning for and to not go off-script.

One would think Hillary Clinton’s resume is fairly well-known, but for Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware, he apparently didn’t read the talking points and claimed that Clinton served in the House of Representatives.

While campaigning for Clinton on Monday, Carper said, “Hillary Clinton was right there in the middle of it all. I saw her. I saw her as a governor, as chairman of the National Governor’s Association, she was terrific.”

Carper was governor of Delaware from 1993 to 2001, and was chairman of the NGA from 1998 to 1999.

He continued, “For eight years that we served together in the House, she did her job. She did her job. She was amazing. She was amazing.”

Carper then said that Clinton “always surrounded herself by the best people you could find. God, she was a terrific colleague.”

He also claimed that Clinton even “sat right behind me.”

Carper and Clinton’s tenure in the Senate did overlap from 2001-2009.

A brief refresher course on some of the things Hillary has done in her life include marrying Bill Clinton, becoming first lady of Arkansas while Bill was governor, becoming first lady of the United States when Bill was president, then running for Senate in New York, losing her 2008 presidential campaign to Barack Obama and then becoming his secretary of state.

Clinton never served in the House.
