Security Guards Shut Down Kids For Singing National Anthem At 9/11 Memorial

OUT: “You can’t fight in here. This is the War Room!”
IN: “You can’t sing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ here. This is the 9/11 Memorial!”

Beckie Strum and Philip Messing, NY Post:

Two tone-deaf security guards at the 9/11 Memorial got tough with some wide-eyed middle school kids visiting the city for the first time from their small town in North Carolina — because they sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

“You have to stop. This is considered a public demonstration!” one guard barked at the patriotic teens…

We can’t have these miscreants disrespecting the victims of 9/11 with a show of blatant patriotism, can we?

I’m surprised we’re even teaching that song to kids anymore. Isn’t that white privilege? Shouldn’t we be apologizing for stealing America, not celebrating its theft? And for that matter, shouldn’t we be submitting to our betters instead of putting up memorials to the people they killed for Allah?

I hope that rent-a-cop is proud of himself. He got to bum out a bunch of schoolkids who were trying to pay their respects, and he got some national attention to boot. Coming soon to a theater near you: Paul Blart, 9/11 Cop.

Those kids aren’t welcome in New York anyway. They’re from North Carolina. Those bigots probably want the boys to stay in the boys’ bathroom. Take your cis-het white supremacy back down to Dixieland where it belongs, you hayseeds. The rest of us will stay up here, with Bruce Springsteen.
