Politico’s Mike Allen says that more than simply being pro-Trump, Matt Drudge is pro-chaos.
During an appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Monday, guest-hosted by this writer, Allen provided his thoughts on the Internet media mogul and his continuing political influence.
“This is what’s so fascinating about Drudge: while everything else in the world has changed, his influence has stayed the same,” Allen said.
The author of Politico’s Playbook told a story about how Drudge shaped the 2004 presidential campaign, before noting: “That was a dozen years ago, today Drudge still drives conversation.”
Asked whether he thinks Drudge is in the tank for Trump, Allen said there was more to it than that.
“He has given Trump a lot of great coverage, but what I would say is that Matt Drudge likes chaos,” Allen explained. “He likes changes. He likes disruption. He likes news. He is in the business. So he is going to love a Trump-Hillary race this fall. He is just going to feast on it.”
